JetBlue TrueBlue - JFK During the Winter

I'll be visiting my family in DC during late December and early January taking Jetblue. I live in Orlando....and on the way back to Orlando my route is IAD-JFK-MCO....I have a couple of questions...my flights are during the late morning and early afternoon period and the layover at jfk is a little less than 2 hours. How much delay will I be expecting around that time (arriving and departing out of JFK)? If I miss the connecting flight due to weather or ground delays, what kind of compensation do I get?
Thanks.

Why is compensation suddenly the buzzword nowadays?

Perhaps this should be in the B6 Forum since it's compensation  and B6 connection related ... I'd recommend you price TED (UA) to ensure B6 is the best value for the route, it's not always the case and a non stop is a better option during the winter. Also, consider two one way tickets if the schedule works in one direction and not the other. Again, direct is always a better deal.

tsh2115, welcome to FlyerTalk! Overall, I agree that you'll be helped better by our True Blue devotees, so let me move this thread to our JetBlue forum. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz

None. More if it is snowing.

None.

Welcome to FT! I believe WN also flies this route nonstop.
As far as compensation, why should jetBlue (or ANY airlines) compensate customers for something NOT within their control!? It's nice of them to put out snacks and bottled waters at the gate. I don't expect anything more than that...and getting to my destination as soon as possible once the weather conditions improve and air traffic is back on it's feet.
As the winter season approaches, lets all remember to be patient with airlines. They do NOT control the weather and it's bad enough that we have so many people out there thinking it's always their fault.

I fully agree with this sentiment, to a point. The one thing that doesn't get discussed enough is the impact of ATC delays, not weather. No one can control weather, and when weather goes bad everything goes bad. With ATC, however, the airlines do share some of the responsibility. Planning to have 53 flights departing in a window that can only support 45 guarantees delays, and it is the airlines that are doing the scheduling (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8331899&postcount=3).
Of course, the airlines have to be compelled to reduce/coordinate their schedules, as otherwise their competitors will just take the slots and increase business with no benefit to the traveling public, but that is a whole different discussion.

It's a catch 22 for the airlines. You may get 8 out the 9 players on the field playing ball with the last one out their just causing havoc. If you can get your competitors to stay with the delay margins, you'll be a miracle worker. When it comes to business, if you're not filling a public demand, someone else is...even if it means more delays and flights than a station can handle (during irops). I'm not saying JetBlue is doing (because I'm not on the inside of JetBlue), but I hope my point can be fallowed.

NO AIRLINE awards compensation for delays, misconnects, cancellations, diversions or reroutes DUE TO WEATHER. This means, No meals, No hotels and No vouchers.
Of course, hit them up if they bump you, have a crew expire or Mechanical problem!!!

my route is IAD-JFK-MCO....
not sure I understand why, JetBlue, Ted, Southwest, and AirTran all offer IAD-MCO nonstop, one of the few routes with 4 different LCCs
Better off rebooking than risking JFK, which is ground stopped on winter afternoons when there is any sort of cloud cover over Queens

Our country is using an extremely outdated ATC system which makes no sense for how big flying in our economy and society is.
Here's some positive news:

I think jetBlue learned its lesson last winter on Valentine's Day...better to get a hard lesson like that out of the way as a relatively young company.

You'll be fine. If you do happen to miss your connection, keep in mind that JetBlue offers plenty of JFK-MCO flights and will put you on another one. And if your flight out of IAD is delayed, chances are that your flight out of JFK will be delayed too (since the weather is similar).

And when all the flights are delayed due to weather and they cancel a few because a crew times out everything will still be fine, especially as they rebook record loads onto all the other available seats over the following few weeks
Take the advice of the posts above and fly a non-stop. Odds are that the connection will be fine, too, but why risk it?
