Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - Lounge access in SIN

I don't usually make it a lot to SIN, but will be in Singapore for 8 hours on the 18th, what are things to do and see? Plus, what lounge(s) should I go crash with my Biz tix on THAI.

Yes, in T2. Or the TG lounge in T1.

I was at the TG lounge in SIN last week. It had been remodeled to fit the new corporate identity. The food (hot and cold) and beverage were good. The seating was nice and quiet. There were some internet stations and a phone for use. Personally, I think the SQ lounge was too crowded and loud.

I beg to differ. In my experience, when travelling TG C, your lounge choices are as follows:

Term 2 SATS Premier Lounge only. SKL for SQ C pax only

Term 1 THAI Lounge, or the T1 SATS Premier Lounge (maybe?).

I think Thai-Kiwi is correct. You have to be a SQ C passenger to get into the SKL lounge. The SATS lounge in T2 isn't very good with old soiled chairs, not very good selection of food or drinks, out of order computers, crowded, etc. The TG lounge isn't great either but at least the furniture is better, not crowded and working computers. I didn't like the poor food selection though in the TG lounge. The TG lounge closes at 8PM. There's also an ANA lounge in T1 but I think it doesn't open until about 8PM or sometime after. I've never been in that lounge and don't know if they'll allow other airline passengers in or not. BKK is far superior for *A lounge access with the Royal Silk Lounges than is SIN.

Can confirm, 2 weeks ago turned away from SKL lounge and pointed to the SATS lounge which I hadn't seen coming up the escalator. That was for *G travelling Y on SQ.

I thought that you can get into any Star-Alliance lounges with your F or J boarding pass with one of the Star carriers....but SIN is exceptional, right?....of that sucks.:mad:

I have no clue what most people here are talking about. You are correct, J or F on a Star Alliance airline will get you into the SKL C or SKL F, respectively. Unless TG has a special system with SQ, you will have access.

Star Golds only get SATS, though...

Indeed, the SKL F was my choice of lounge when flying LX F out of SIN. The good ol days of Dom Perignon made the longish walks from T1 to T2 and back again worth it...

BTW, the SKL access ladies are having a bit of a hard time of it at the moment as the new PPS lounge access rules have just kicked in and they are having to deal with a number of irate PPS members who can no longer access the F side.

Though, I've read that after recent change in access rule, C side is rather busy and finding a place to sit is hard during peak time :eek:

Just going back to this particular issue, I would definitely head into town with an 8 hour layover. I have previously booked a room for layovers of this length and gone for something to eat and a few drinks, back to the Hotel to shower/change then head back to Changi. What sort of things are you interested in. Shopping, sightseeing, eating, drinking ?.

kkjay77 is correct. The SKL C side is a bit of a zoo at peak periods now since QPP's have been kicked out of the F lounge,

None that I am aware of. In fact from memory early this year the toilets are outside the lounge and shared with the Qantas Club.

The SATS lounge at T1 also have some pretty nice showers.

Hi, it's easy to locate and well signed.
As you enter, turn left and UP the escalators.
It's the first lounge at the top, in front of QF.
It is smallish but well stocked regrettably there are no showers.
If you have OW accreditation, the QF lounge behind is ideal.
The fitness centre, transit lounge and the sauna all have showers and prices vary from $3-$10SD. hope I have helped regards bkkrop

You may be out of luck if you arrive at a busy time. I prefer the TG lounge because even though it's small and doesn't have much, at least I've never seen it overly packed like the SATS lounge. In my opinion niether lounge has a very good selection of food/drinks. I much prefer to transfer at BKK rather than SIN as a Y *G passenger. For all the praises people throw at SIN it's not nearly as good as BKK for me because of the poor lounges.
