Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - More Enterprise tricks-bogus insurance charge

I rented a car from Enterprise at MSY (I know, swore I'd never do it again) and declined all insurance, and initialed all the waivers on the contract.

So when I return the car, the clerk with the portable printer says, "With our full coverage, your total is $xx.xx," about double what it was supposed to be.

She had to go inside the building to correct the amount, never asked to see the contract.

If someone was in a hurry to catch a plane, they might not notice something like that. If it was any other company, I might think it was an honest mistake. But seeing Enterprise in action pushing their overpriced insurance (even after you decline it!) makes me think they were trying to pull a fast one.

Happens all the time, but I doubt they were trying to rip you off. I'm glad you caught it. When Enterprise writes the rental contracts, it automatically has the damage waiver included. An employee actually has to go back into the system and remove it if you decline. Most likely, they just forgot to remove it.

Maybe that's what happened. But I'd say that is pretty presumptuous on Enterprise's part.

I agree 100%, but that's the way they do business..

If they're going to take it off easy enough at the end of the rental, seems like it's a great way to get yourself some "free" insurance. If something happens to the car, the insurance you didn't want is already there (in which case you keep the insurance at the end). If nothing happens you get to tell them you didn't want it and that it should have been removed.

They'll just pull out the contract you initialled and it'll be all over.

Same thing happened to me in SAN. They removed it and changed our per hour fee for a late return down to $1/hr. :)

This happened to DS a few years back with Enterprise. Not exactly "on topic" but sort of...
she had an accident with her car and rented replacement through Enterprise. Took out the additional insurance. Unf. she had a slight accident w/car (not sure who's fault... rain etc). She returns car and find out that Enterprise reported it to HER insurance company and she was then dropped 'cause she had 2 accidents. She might have just saved the little $$ from Enterprise though.
