We are flying into Madrid and driving to Alicante.
Any coupon codes welcome and any advice on driving in Spain also useful.
Also it appears that Hertz separates the CDW etc from the rental. Is it required? Is it smart to take it?
TIA

I thought it was Italy and Ireland... not Spain.

Either way, they don't really look closely for damage. I was there a couple months ago in MAD and I went thru Hertz.

My comments aren't really relevant to your questions,:) but, we had no problems driving in Spain. Our GPS system quit working outside Barcelona, but our car was from France. The roads were good, drivers reasonable, parking a nightmare like everywhere in Europe.

It's not an easy process, but go through the discount thread and try all those codes. Some will give good results, some won't, not really sure there is a do all quote for everything.

They may require an international Drivers License, it's $15 and good for a year.

Totally depends on what coverage, if any, you currently have. If your insurance covers you outside the country in rental cars, then it's a waste of money probably. If it doesn't, or if your deductible is high, that's a different story.

CDW is one of those things you probably feel is a total waste when nothing happens, but may be glad you have should something happen.
