Okay, so not booked with Hertz for a while, but am still still a #1 Club Gold member, so here's the thing. Looking at hiring the Shelby GT-H for a day when in LAS in a couple of weeks, so booking online I get given the following:-

NOT logged in with United CPD $113.99 base = est $151.65
NOT logged in with no CPD $ 119.99 base = est $159.46

Logged in with Amex CPD $127.50 base = est $169.23
Logged in with United CPD $135.00 base = est $178.99

Is this the price of being a Gold member:confused:

Hi,

Probably explains why I haven't been renting with Hertz for the past year. They used to have competitive rates, but now, they are just a lot more expensive than Avis (and in both cases, I use my Flying Blue discount code).

Cheers,

Pat attention to what CDP you use. Some CDP's only work on certin rates and those might not me the cheapest rate available. When in doubt always use the AAA CDP. It's always 10% and works on all rates.

I've read about this concept (higher rates while logged in to Hertz.com) here over the years, but never encountered it personally. Perhaps it has to do with the specialty cars - I don't know. Usually when I log in, the rate drops 10% because I have AAA defaulted in my Gold profile.

Are both the $120 and the $135 unlimited miles?

Sometimes I'll start my rental car search at Orbitz - that shows you everybody's "un-logged-in" rates with no CDP/PC discounts. For a weekly leisure rental, I might be willing to use any of the major first-tier agencies, so it's good to see of one of them has a much better "starting point" before I start trying the various code combinations.

.

I wish  only 75 miles per day free on either of them, and then at some extortionate rate :td:
