Anyone ever rented with Hertz (or possibly another major co) in Morocco?

We're contemplating renting between Fes and Marrakesh. noah Sep 1, 07, 8:07 pm I did this same rental with National (Europcar) in 2002. *Fantastic trip* -- though the Fiat Uno I ended up in was, to put it mildly, showing its years on the Moroccan roads. That way I didn't feel so badly when it got stuck in the desert on our way to visit the sand dunes. They tell you you can't drive there, but as long as you stay to the main path (which I failed to do), then you can make it in any car. Have fun! Go with whoever offers you the best size car for your dollar since they're all franchisees. hypervoyage Sep 9, 07, 8:22 am The added benefit of choosing an international car rental company in Morocco is marginal to say the least. I somehow insisted on choosing Hertz, paying a total weekly rate close to $1000 for a 4x4. Upon arrival at first I didn't even recognize the Hertz booth. No computers, no phone, even no pens to fill out the contract ;-) I ended up with a completely worn out Toyota RAV 4x4, which had 252.000KM of driving experience :( The only alternative was a Peugeot 307 with 85.000KM, which also happened to be the youngest car in the fleet. I took the 4x4 and had two flat tires during that week: the first time I ever experienced flat tires in my life. And I have been using rental cars on roads a lot rougher than Morocco (where roads are generally of good quality) Costs of replacing the tires were not covered by the insurance, even though I opted for the most expensive package. Just go for for the cheapest option available for your car rental. The landscape is stunningly beautiful and you'll likely meet lots of people that make your trip really memorable! |
