Well, it was a hard fight but today I at last got my 14,500. bonus miles
for the Amex promotion of double miles (the promotion that disappeared
and many of us wondered about). Pay your taxes and get double miles.

I had printed out a copy of the offer and kept it. (I even sent a copy to
a few people on FT that requested it). Anyway, its taken about 3 months
of letters, faxes and phone calls so I am not sure it was worth the trouble
but I am happy to report this morning the last 9,500 bonus miles appeared
in my account. 5,000 miles had shown up earlier this week. I used 3
different Starwood Amex cards. I now have a fourth card so this year
I am ready--- did I say its not worth the trouble, the things I do for points
and miles;)

and miles;)LOL....all of us! What was the problem?

Did you know you can buy your car on credit card?

The problem was that the offer was only up on the internet for a short time
and then it was pulled. Amex kept saying there was no such offer but I
had a copy of it.

If you have been able to buy a car on your credit card your lucky (or more
skilled ) we bought two new cars last year and neither dealer would budge
on letting us put any of the purchase price on our credit card, only service.

On the upside when we bought our Starwood vacation timeshare I put it all
on the Amex card and got double points for it, no problem.

Of course they are going to balk at paying the 2-3% fee. But they do not have a choice. Remind them that they must.....and if they still balk.....just they call their bank or legal counsel.

For the last 4 cars I bought, I have been able to use my card everytime. Too bad, so sad. It's a cost of them doing business.

I have read that some dealerships get around not taking
credit cards for cars by having seperate companies
for sevice and sales.
The service side does take credit cards
the sales company take no credit cards.
Not sure if this is how they work around it but
they seemed firm, offered me other discounts
but no credit card usage!
