Hertz - SEA Any change?

I am flying to Seattle next week for the first time in YEARS!!
I did a quick search and the overall view seems to be that Hertz Seattle is not a good location, but lots of the posts were fairly old.
So is it still a loser operation and should I cut and run to National??? (I try to avoid the "Alamo" clone, but...)

It was a loser station last time I was there. I'll be in SEA this weekend but not with Hertz.
The downtown location was actually quite good last year. They acknowledged me and took me ahead of general members as there is no Gold etc 'service' there. Also reimbursed my taxi fare to the cruise ship terminal.
And don't get me started about one in northern WA where the counter agent used my credit card to scratch his rather pimply face . I had him wipe it off with hand sanitizer before returning it to me....
(I can usually find a good story for you, can't I?) ;)

I haven't had any problems there but maybe I am lucky.
I´ve been there two weeks ago, no change.
Had a reservation for I class w/ Neverlost, wanted to avoid the Town Car and offered to pay for an upgrade. Waited 45 minutes at the counter while they were searching for a car (lot was full of cars on that Tuesday night). The Town car was the only one they found as they were "out of cars"..:-(
Bye, Frido.

I'm Hertz Gold and I still paid about $75.00 less for a weekend rental with AVIS a couple of weekends ago at SEA, and even received an upgrade as my reserved car was not immediately available (It was a Friday evening at 7:00pm). I was immediately processed and in a car with only 8000 miles within 15 minutes of getting my bags.

SEA Hertz is one of those mysterious locations where the opportunity to be surprised by the customer service lingers in the back of your mind like an overdue project. Something bad will happen, but what will it be? Or will I escape my fate by some lucky stroke?
Good luck with National. I hope it works well for you.
My experiences have been generally poor to mediocre with both Hertz and Avis at SEA, so it may be a Seattle thing.

As a PC, I wouldn't be worried.
I rented on 8/8 as a #1 Club Gold and my car was there and even upgraded slightly (from a Corolla to a Kia Optima w/NL). If you have to go to the counter, good luck. But as far as the canopy service was concerned, no better or worse than any other airport. Walk up, find name on board, locate car, drive off. No big deal.

There's alot of construction there right now, and the airport is a mess, and the road to Rental Return is detoured by a small sign. Keep your eyes open as you are nearing the entrance.

Hertz SEA still blows. I rent there every other week. As I'm walking towards the parking garage, I start thinking "What will it be this time?" The best bet is that my name won't be on the board, and the explanation is "We're running behind." Bet #2 is that my car will be in a distant lot requiring a ride from a golf cart to get there. #3 is that my midsize booking will have been "upgraded" to a minivan. Finally, there is that off-chance that something mysterious happens and my car is there.
Now that the 4xWN promo is over, I'm switching to National for at least the 1-2-Free period.

I just rented this past weekend and wanted to post about how bad it was when I found this thread.
They didn't have a car for me but allowed me to upgrade to an XC-70 for an extra $12. I figured what the hell, I only had the car for 11 hours so it might as well be fun. The delayed car/no car wasn't the problem....
The problem was that I had a friggin prestige car and it was full of garbage. Well, okay, not full, but definitely not cleaned very well. I'm used to one, maybe two pieces of paper (straw wrappers for example) in a car but this car had 11 different things in it including a pair of sunglasses that fell out of the sunvisor. It also was only at 7/8th tank.
I called the 800 number and they told me to stop back in when I left to get a discount. The girl checking me in charged me for the gas. I told her the tank wasn't full anyway and she basically asked if I told anyone that before I left, then promptly charged me an arbitrary amount when I told her no. $58 rental was now like $88. I told her I needed to go downstairs anyway to talk to them about the garbage and she insisted I didn't need to, but took $10 off the bill. I looked at her like she was an idiot and went on down.
The guy downstairs made some excuse about the car being a rapid turn around and it didn't get cleaned well. (But if I took an unreserved car, what was the rush?)
IN the end he ended up waving the gas and everything else to get me down to $45 for the day. For a cluttery Volvo, that wasn't too bad.

Any recent experiences with full size rentals at SEA? Just wondering if they still have the old Taureses?

I'm renting from SEA-TAC next month. Kinda frustrating to see bad reviews. I have reserved a Mustang for a weekend trip. I'd love to hear things have improved at this station!

I've rented Hertz in SEA once or twice a year for many years and never had a problem.

I vote no improvement. Service is surly and the Gold desk seemed closed more often than open when I'm there (without a sign telling you it's closed).
No shortage of Mustangs and Pontiac G6's there.

No issues in 4 rental there this year.
Once they even offered me $25 CS voucher at return when the downtown location did not upgrade my one way rental.
