Please advise. ScottC Aug 30, 07, 8:50 am Rumor has it ATT will have the 8925 ("tilt") in stores some time in September. It's their version of the Kaiser (TyTN II). ScottC Aug 30, 07, 8:51 am Nobody has them in stock just yet, but they should be arriving at some stores in a week or two. jetlagjunkie Aug 30, 07, 12:11 pm Well I got one ordered from http://www.mobileplanet.com. I hope to get it in a couple weeks. ScottC Aug 30, 07, 12:34 pm Well I got one ordered from http://www.mobileplanet.com. I hope to get it in a couple weeks. Good luck with that. If there is ONE supplier I wouldn't trust to deliver on time, it's Expansys/Mobileplanet. They ALWAYS post their delivery dates overly optimistic in the hope that people do a pre-order. jason8612 Aug 31, 07, 7:04 am cool new phone, but besides the camera being 1 more mp, anything else really new? ScottC Aug 31, 07, 7:44 am cool new phone, but besides the camera being 1 more mp, anything else really new? GPS, more memory, improved software (HTC Home, HTC Touch), camera has auto focus, tilting screen. It's not a massive improvement, but the TyTN is over a year old so it really is time for a replacement. GadgetFreak Aug 31, 07, 7:57 am GPS, more memory, improved software (HTC Home, HTC Touch), camera has auto focus, tilting screen. It's not a massive improvement, but the TyTN is over a year old so it really is time for a replacement. Same processor or faster? Im tempted by this, my current TyTN is great. The difference in reliability between in and my Treo 700w is pretty dramatic. I basically cant put a lot of programs on the Treo or it just starts locking. The TyTN handles it no problems. If it is a faster processor Im thinking it might be better for Skype in particular, and GPS would be great also. ScottC Aug 31, 07, 8:02 am Same processor or faster? Couple of vendors listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313716&page=2 But I wouldn't order in the first week(s). Nobody has seen or tested a retail unit, and it it's anything like the retail tytn's from last year it may be a dud. The first batches of TyTN's had bad screen alignment problems. I'd wait till the first production runs are in hands of their owners. As much as I want one, I don't want to deal with warranty issues and HTC. They are really REALLY bad at customer support. Good advice, as usual. I will wait until I hear you get one ;) Thanks. anotherbrian Sep 1, 07, 1:01 am Any confirmation to the rumor the 8925 will have TomTom pre-installed with AT&T? I'm keen on getting a phone with a GPS, and if it came pre-packaged with mapping software that would justify a premium in price over the 8525. I received a 8525 two weeks ago, and I intend to return it within the next two weeks for a refund/exchange. I'm not too keen on its battery life/dependence on the stylus, but if it had a GPS that might make it more desirable. Internaut Sep 1, 07, 10:57 am Hmmm, I'm disappointed - it's not what I was hoping for. GPS is nice but at a time when Toshiba are squeesing 800 pixel width screens into their portable devices, anything less than VGA width is very poor. GPS is nice but at a time when Toshiba are squeesing 800 pixel width screens into their portable devices, anything less than VGA width is very poor. Except of course that Toshiba is the Yugo of PDA's. The shipped 1000's of them the first month that didn't even work. Their quality control is non existent. But I do agree on the topic of the screen, that HTC is still on qvga is just sad. jetlagjunkie Sep 26, 07, 7:03 pm Well I got my TyTN II about a week and a half ago and I love it. I would have to say it is the best PDA phone that I have ever had. The only down fall I have to complain about is that TomTom software is only a teaser. It is the full version of the software, but you are only allowed to download one city map. If you want any more maps you have to buy them. I bought the US/Canada series of maps for about $140. Other than that, very fast. Has not locked up at all for me yet. I don't regret spending the $$$$$$. njxbean Sep 26, 07, 7:28 pm Good luck with that. I got mine from here about a week ago. Came on time had no problems ordering it. Oh and the phone is great. I love it. SO much more memory and built in storage. Not to mention that fact that it has a gps!! I threw my cingular sim card in and was good to go. I have noticed that internet explorer seems a bit slower than tytn. However, i hear opera is much better anyway. Also, im having issues with switching back to a call when using call waiting. However, im sure these will be fixed by our buddies over at xda shortly. Im happy i spent the money on this device. I also got mine insured for $69 a year, just in case something happens to it. njxbean Sep 26, 07, 7:29 pm another really cool app that came with mine is a business card reader. basically, you take a picture of a business card and it imports all the info on it into your contacts. its pretty cool!! I gave up, this phone is miles ahead of the BBerry and I can use it in Japan. Sprint has the only BBerry that works in Asia now, AFAIK LAX-1K Dec 13, 07, 9:40 pm I recently switched to the TyTn II from the iPaq 6945 (and before it, the 6515). All I have to say is, WOW! What a difference! I'm still getting used to the slide-out keyboard body style, but the performance, memory, and WM6 are better than I could have hoped. Mikey likes it Dec 13, 07, 9:40 pm Nice I just bought the HTC TYTN II from New Egg as the AT&T Flip for $150. What data plan did you get? Thinking about doing the same. njxbean Dec 13, 07, 9:52 pm I just put the Touch Flo interface on mine. so now it has that cube interface like the HTC touch. Awesome!!! i love this phone. jason8612 Dec 13, 07, 9:55 pm goin to the BB, I found the coolest thing. mologogo. Basically its a free GPS tracking program where you can track yourself and also other friends. Kinda gives another level to "Big Brother" but if I was to travel with the family in a city, I can easily see where they are and meet up with em. and when a phone gets stolen, kinda easy to track it :) BDLORD Dec 14, 07, 7:09 am What data plan did you get? I have had 4 hours sleep since yesterday and I got home to find this baby on my door step. I must sleeep :D, any, tips, suggestions or telling me to get lost. :) thanks! Internaut Dec 23, 07, 12:43 pm Sensory overload indeed. From getting the device connected up to the home WiFi network to getting it to sync with the company email server, everything has been nice and easy so far. Only thing that confused me is how to get GPS working (will download Google Maps and see if that gives me what I want). The only thing I don't like (as I mentioned above, and long ago) is the screen - I'm used to the big, bright VGA screen of the iPAQ hx4700. However, as converged devices go, this one is stunning. runarut Dec 23, 07, 1:39 pm Has anyone used the AT&T Tilt (AKA HTC TyTN II) as an Internet access device for their laptop? Also, need to know if the phone can make/take calls while it is being used as a router by your PC. I'm thinking about switching from mobile phone and mobile data card to just a mobile phone that does both functions. Hopefully at the same time. BDLORD Dec 23, 07, 11:19 pm Sensory overload indeed. THis is probably the single BEST thing about this phone. it is extremely customizable. THere are genius' out there who are working hard fixing Windows mobile bugs, and creating ROMs with any and all features that people think might be beneficial. Someone asked if it was possible to get touchflo on the kaiser, sure enough, they did it. and it works great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=376 To get it, you have to flash the new rom onto your device. WHile its pretty safe, there is the remote possibility you could really mess up your phone, so do some thorough reading before upgrading. anaggie Dec 24, 07, 8:14 pm THis is probably the single BEST thing about this phone. it is extremely customizable.
