Starwood Preferred Guest - SPG Gold via AMEX Question

Hi
I am currently an SVO Owner and have SPG Gold via the perk of ownership in that program.
Via my AMEX card, we are at $25,000 for the year and each month I keep getting saluted for being close to gaining SPG Gold access via the $30,000 per year spend.
My question is this - it is my SPG # attached to our AMEX card too, but if I quickly change (has anyone ever done this) to my SPOUSE's SPG # (she is just an SPG "Preferred Planner") will it happen in time to get her the $30k Gold status (she may reach it this year via stays anyways).

You both should be gold if you both bought the timeshare. I was already
gold and my husband didn't even have a SPG membership. Now he is gold
too!

I don't know much about Starwood Vacation Ownership, but I don't think that's right. Perhaps they made an exception for your particular circumstance along the way?
Either way, the best answer can be gotten by calling American Express (or SVO if you decide to go that way) and asking them.

wintermom was right.
i called SVO, got a rep faster than normal, explained that i think we missed that my wife should also have SPG gold since she is on the deed/contract, and sure enough, 5 minutes later my wife is SPG Gold. it shows up online and everything.
now...lets go back and get those 4 years worth of 50% bonuses...ooohhhh william.......

Starwood Vacation Ownership reports that they upgrade the principal owner automatically and the spouse only by special request.
EC Traveler, SVO will be taking care of the issue we discussed prior. ;)
