TalkBoard Topics - Suggestion for "Enthusiasts" forum

I have made this suggestion in the CO forum but I think it's applicable across all of the airline forums.

Instead of threads about why a plane was diverted or extremely late showing up in different airline forums why not have them all in an "Enthusiasts" forum?

All posts about upgrade chances, which plane will be used on a route, route predictions, diversions, and cancellations could go in it.

Thoughts?

Just read sticky, please move to the TalkBoard Topics Forum

I think "upgrade chances, which plane will be used on a route, route predictions, diversions, and cancellations" are very airline specific and have a perfect home in the individual airline forum.

I have nothing against the proposed forum, but I do think any question that is fit for this new forum would be answered quicker & faster (if at all) by the airline-specific "gurus" in the airline-specific forum.

Also, how would TravelBuzz not solve this "unmet" need?

I concur with chexfan and cblaisd: such a forum would be a mess and would further fragment FlyerTalk. I believe it's best to keep airline-specific questions and commentary in the existing fora for those airlines (including fora for multiple airlines ;) ).

Well, there is some dislike of these types of threads in the different airline forums and TravelBuzz doesn't really suit the purpose (it'll get clogged).

I was thinking of thread titles like "CO #1234 Diverted, Why?"

I've been delighted to see more mods in some forums making "consolidated" threads for various topics that I think the op might have in mind. So, that's another tool for forum mods to use to keep the forum helpful and tidy and unclogged.

Well... there is someone that probably dislikes every thread or subject that comes up... :)

I know I would never visit such a forum... it would have all airlines, all airports and would be a mess.

The people that can usually answer those questions are the experts in the airline forums... so why would you not want the threads in the forums where the experts hang out?

Given the frequency of such theads in the DL Forum, it seems that they are quite popular there. I know that I don't recall anyone complaining about them.

Now, if you really want to see some complaints, start a thread there about the Delta AMEX card.

As for it becoming a mess, well anyone who enters it can do a search for the Carrier of their choice and 'No Mess'.

I wouldnt visit it either but would LOVE it to come about as it would Unclog the reg Carrier Forums. So say unless a person experienced 1st hand an unusually Flight it would be dumped into there.

As the OP said great place for "Will I get an Upgrade?", why did flight #123 get Diverted or why is it 4 hrs delayed?

Except that half of FT folks post using the abbreviation for the carriers, so no results will ever come back. Putting FCTSTY's objections to just about every post/thread on the CO forum aside, most of those threads die a pretty quick death after a short while. Either TravelBuzz or the airline-specific forum seems to make the most sense to me.

It's called Airliners.net (HTTP://www.airliners.net) and has a long ton of just such posts.
