South - Best eats and other recs for Birmingham and Montogomery?

Will be in these cities on a business trip with my wife for four days next month. Any recommendations re places to eat and things to do if we have spare time? Staying in the Courtyard Marriott in both. Re restaurants, I guess we'd be most interested in (shock of shocks) good Southern food.

Dreamland for BBQ in Birmingham on the campus UAB. Best ribs that'll ever touch your lips! ^

If you like soul food or want to try it ask your front desk staff at your hotel. I've tried several places in and around B'ham that are local, great tasting and a bargin.

In Montgomery you can tour the old State House Chambers which is very interesting for history/civil war buffs.
