US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Would US be booted out of the *Alliance?

Just wanted to post a silly question that is increasingly relevant as I have 500K dividend miles and will be soon going back to business school. Caveat is that I want to do most of my travel internationally on non-US carriers. I've heard rumors abound that United and US Airways are butting heads in their alliance, and that a US departure from the alliance is imminent. Would it be in anyone's interest to have US Air leave the alliance? Any comments/chatter is welcome.

The general consensus is that despite it's poor shape, US' place in the the *A is secure. It just passed the required *A safety inspection with flying colors, and it adds a ton of destinations/frequencies that allows the *A greater access across the US.

The fact that United and US Airways are butting heads is true, and it's practically confirmed that US and UA will be discontinuing their codeshare agreement. This is largely because one of the original motivations for the codeshare was to expand US access in the West Coast - no longer needed with the new plethora of HP routes. Also, do a search on US Airways for, say, EWR-SFO, you used to see UA's non-stop option right on top, now they are not listed at all.

So, in short, yes UA and US will probably cease to codeshare, but US is pretty secure in the *A.
