The wife and I had to fly to PIT for the day for some family business. We flew the morning flight out of JFK and the last flight of the day back to JFK from PIT. I had actually asked in another thread if someone would be able to get me the plane name as I ws unable to retrieve it when I landed........Well it would turn out that I would get the exact same plane in the evening and this time it would give us more problems than the morning (I recognized my messed up audio unit on my row in the morning).
In the morning, only my Audio portion of N187JB "Dream Come Blue" was messed up. For the return flight, we loaded and pulled back from the gate on time. We taxied to the runway and were next in line, when all you hear for 10 minutes were the engines spooling up and the plane not moving. After a few more minutes of that we were told by the pilot that the parking brake would not release. He explained that he would shut the aircraft down and let the computer do a self diagnostic test. This failed.....technicians from PIT came out to the plane, but after 2 hours of sitting there it was decided that the problem was unable to be fixed.
They brought airstairs to the plane but only 2 buses to make the 3 mile trek back to the terminal. We had to wait for the last bus as only 30 passengers a bus were not going to cut it. Once back in the terminal we were told that the plane from the BOS flight which was supposed to RON was being prepped during the bussing and that we would be taking that flight. I am guessing it was because of hours, but the pilot of the orignal plane were not the pilots of the flight that left and only passengers. One of the pilots who flew the plane actually apologized that he wasn't in uniform but no one realy cared.
We took off at 10:55PM and pulled into JFK about 12:15AM. Just another tale to add to the E190 books.
