I am National Executive Elite and have been with National since 1981. I was one of the original Emerald Club Life Members back in 1987 or so. Anyway the service has gotten to a point that I am switching. :td:

I joined #1 Gold and change my account to Hertz points. Other than that anything I should know. Should I send Hertz at note like I others have done for airlines for status match? An National Hertz comparisons I should know about?

Thanks in advance.

It's easy to get #1 Club Gold status. Here's a link (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=723794), that will bring you to other links about status matches at Hertz. It's pretty easy to reach the 5* level.

It's been a number of years since I've used National regularly; however, IMHO, Hertz is far superior to any other rental company. I'd recommend you switch.

Switched earlier this year; same situation as you. Hertz wouldn't do status match, nor will they give you credit mid-way through the year when you hit the required rentals for the next level of status (seems bizarre). I mainly switched because of Neverlost (work will keep shelling out $10/day for it, instead of just buying us our own units). As you probably know, the National GPS is severely lacking (or at least was).

I will say I miss choosing my own car. I think I've driven about 12 Taurus', a Kia, an Outback, and a Highlander. Almost always found the National Executive Selection to offer better choices.

Also found that maybe 30% of the time my name isn't on the Gold board, causing a delay in leaving.

If National offered a better GPS system, I'd probably go back to them.

Any reason for why you are not on the board?

Thanks

I use Hertz a fair bit despite their crappy service only because of their excellent Southwest Rapid Rewards Promotions (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5767387#post5767387).

I've been told it's because they didn't have a car ready yet. I recall one time at PHL having to stand and wait for a neverlost car to be cleaned. Maybe the 5th or 6th that came out finally had neverlost. The last three times at DCA the same has happened...quick turnaround once I go inside the little Gold booth, but they have to scour the lot for a neverlost vehicle.

An operation as large as Hertz, that seems unlikely, but must be true.
