InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Check-in Opening Night After Renovation? (HI Main Gate East)

It looks like the Holiday Inn Main Gate East (Orlando / Kissimmee) is closed for renovations. It's now accepting reservations beginning September 30. I have a flight out of MCO on the morning of October 1. The rate on priorityclub.com is as low as $44!
1. Does the hotel usually open as planned (in other words, is it likely that I might have to scramble at the last minute to find somewhere else to stay?)
and
2. Does anyone know anything about this hotel? That's a very cheap rate, but I know hotels often go really cheap right after they open.
Thanks!

If a property is taking bookings, it should be prepared for a "soft" opening, which means not all the rooms or all the facilities will be finsihed and available, but enough will be to justify paying guests. Given they are taking reservations for 40-days from now, they must have a pretty good idea enough of the property will be completed. If they can't accommodate you, they will have to provide an alternative for you at the same price you paid...and you can also get any PC points you might otherwise have received as a courtesy post if you're not moved to another ICH property.

I was looking at that property that night and even the previous one too, but didnt find that rate you mentioned. I found for $54 on sept 30, and $64 on Oct 1, but not the super low $44. How did you find that?

I found it under Best Available rates, One night checking in Sep 30. There are rates of $44, $46, $53...and up.
Oh, and the renovation looks great! I found some info here:
http://www.orlandotravelodgehotel.com/Holiday-Inn.htm
$44.00 USD
Average Nightly Rate 2 QUEEN BEDS NONSMOKING Non-Smoking Reserve

As I understand it, if a ICH hotel walks you, the first night is on them.

Actually, the Holiday Inn Main Gate East is still open. The property used to be the world's largest Travelodge and is currently operating as a Fun Spots hotel until renovations are complete. The hotel is still taking reservations and despite some ongoing renovations, I imagine the chances of getting a redone room are pretty good.
You can find out more about the renovations here (http://www.hotelinteractive.com/index.asp?page_id=5000&article_id=8059).
