Ok y'all hold the laughter and pick yourselves off the floor :p Heading out to MEM in about a month and I don't care for driving anymore. I am looking at how easy it is to get around downtown or maybe the medical center area. I have not stayed in either area before and it's been ages since I've been to MEM so the easier it is the better. I still need to find a reasonable hotel too.

If you cab or shuttle from MEM to downtown, there is a decent trolley system to get around - even reaches med center area. City center is fairly compact.

Thanks bkramt1! Once again the flyer talk community comes to my rescue ^^ I thought the trolley only did the downtown area and along the river but went to the MATA site and was happily proven wrong. One task down one more to go and that is the hotel. Off to poke around the medical area for a room.

Unless you need a hotel close to the med center area, I would start your hotel search in the Beale Street area (restaurant and people friendly) and commute to the med center, as needed. Choices like the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Radisson, might work for the budget-minded.

Found a hotel near Beale street for $129 a night. A bit cheaper then the larger chains and the trolley runs right in front of the hotel :D^
