Does anyone have an experience with picking up an Alamo rental at the MIA location? Just wanted to get an idea whether their operations were smooth or if I can expect huge crowds and a long wait, like I have at LAS and LAX.
Thanks
Used Alamo at MIA in April. Smaller operation than at LAS. Service was good. Used the kiosk to print the rental agreement. No line at the gate. Pick your own car from the class reserved. Return just as easy. No wait. Bus service to airport efficient.
They offer shuttle service to the Port of Miami, but it does take time. Post cruise it was a long wait for a shuttle to arrive, and then it was a free-for-all for the shuttle as there were too many of us trying to board. But they had two more shuttles five minutes later to collect the rest of us.
If returning full, do it before you head to the airport. We had trouble finding a station close by.

There are some gas stations at La Jeune, just opposite the airport. And yes, it's a little difficult to find them (and the ALAMO station) due to construction in that area.

I have only rented at Alamo MIA once. It took about an hour of standing in line to get my car and thus have never returned.
I have an upcoming Alamo rental at PBI. Admittedly, I was hesitant but as the price was much lower, and the website says I can take care of all the paperwork at a kiosk in the airport itself, I am going to take the chance.

I have used their kiosk .... I believe, you need a US drivers license in order to use the kiosk ... the drivers license will be scanned.

That is NOT good news -- as I will be coming in from a very long itinerary. I arrive in PBI 24 hours after I leave my house.
Still, as the rental is several hundred dollars less than what Hertz wants, I will stay with it unless there is a very major last minute drop in Hertz's price.

I am not 100% sure about the drivers license. First the kiosks asks for the credit card, which you used to reserve, next for the drivers license, which will be scanned. US drivers license have the size of a credit card.
I got super low price via priceline, however, you have to return the car to the same rental station.
Alamo lets you select your car in the booked class.
I just arrived in Ft. Myers. Long lines at Alamo, almost nobody at the other rental cars. Same next day, when I picked up somebody!
BTW, Alamo has *NOT* a kiosk at all airports .. non at SFO....and in SFO the almost run out of cars, they gave me a car from National, which had also only 3 cars left .. but I got a huge Dodge with a 3.5 Ltr. High Output Engine.
