Has anyone ever use the Alamo online checkin? If so, how early can one check in? Is there a fee to add an additional driver? Also, if I take an earlier flight, and pick up my car early, having used the online checkin, will I be charged an extra day? Right now I have my pick up scheduled for 11:30 pm at SFO, but hope to standby for an earlier flight. If I were to arrive at SFO say anytime prior to 9 pm, based upon my return time, at 9 pm, I should have an extra day charged. But, if all you do with online check in is show the printout at the exit booth, then it seems like one might be able to pick up earlier and not be charged. As mentioned, I am flying in and picking up at SFO, if anyone can offer experiences at SFO and with online checkin, I'd appreciate receiving your reply. Thank you.

There is a charge for an extra driver. However, if you rented using the Costco discount codes, an additional driver is free.

Yes if you arrive earlier and you in-tern add more hours to your rental you will be charged addl day to your rental. There are 24 hours in a day. If you do an online checkin, you are just doing your own contract and avoiding standing in line upon arrival. Normal rules apply. The clock starts ticking as soon as there's a car attached to your contract and you only get a 29 min grace period.
If you want to add an addl driver, add them on your reservation NOW...show their DL at the gate...with your online checkin reservatioin form. You will need to show That form, your lic, the CC you said you were going to use when you booked and the lic of any addl drivers you put on the reservation. If you wait til time of pick up to add an addl driver you will have to wait in the normal line to do your rental.
The previous "poster" was correct. If you booked that res with a Costco discount, the addl driver fee is waived but the addl driver still must be listed on the "contract" to be legal to drive the car.
