Try the Turtle Bay Resort: http://www.turtlebayresort.com/

FWIW, the JW Marriott at Koolina is my favorite hotel on the Island. Also one of the best places for beachgoing for the general public on weekdays. :)

What's the name of that huge golf-friendly place on the way out west toward Sunset Beach & the Cultural Center?

I don't think it's affiiliated with the Hawaii Prince course - it's nearer to the shrimp vans!

The Turtle Bay website looks great- that is a great location for a resort, IMO, next to Sunset.

tinkybelle, you'll love the beach views along the coast road past there, out to Sunset Beach. ^

(Just in case you want to be an Aussie and go shopping - the big outlet place that is off Exit 7 of H1, past H3 and H2 I recall). Has a Tumi shop. ;)

Actually we didn't get there - spent both days (and the morning of the flight, lost - geez!) driving around the island so didn't get that far up H1.

I tried, but figured I'd missed the outlet turnoff after seeing nothing near the Bowl so we did another roundtrip via H3 through Dole Plantation, Sunset and the shrimp trucks, plus photo-ops along lots of lovely beaches. :)

Fortunately, Ala Moana Macys had a 50% deal on the TravelPro, along with the hotel's 11% Macy's discount, on a model not available locally. :D
