Hilton HHonors - How many calls to HHonors to get upgraded to Gold w/AMEX HH Platnium

I meant to post this last month. I got the AMEX HH Platnium card last year, around October with the 50,000 points. 1st purchase = 10,000. 4stays = 10,000. and spend $5K by 3/31/07 = 30,000.

They held up their bargain and I received the 50,000 points in March 07.

The challenge was to get them to upgrade me to Gold. I didn't have enough stays to stay at gold and my level dropped to silver.

If you have the AMEX HH Platnium card and make $20K purchases in a year, you can get upgraded to Gold.

I called and called and called and called (talked to about 10+ people over a 3 month period) and HH finally upgraded me to Gold. No, I did not spend $20K, but kept insisting that they look at my account and add the points and it looks like I spent over $20K (with all the bonus points awarded). Just thought I'd pass this along, perseverance pays off.

Are you saying if you don't have the rules on your side, but you keep pestering the CSRs to give you something you are not entitled to, you will eventually get it? Sorry, but I think that is unethical behavior and adds to the distrust of Flyertalk by at least some of the Hilton CSRs. :td::td::td:

Why did you expect to be upgraded to Gold without spending 20K on the AMEX?

Are you going to try convincing UA to upgrade you to 1P by using a Mileage Plus Visa also?

At least you will have HH points to trade in Coupon Connection now as opposed to karma.

Next is a call complaining about lack of upgrades despite Gold status.
