JetBlue TrueBlue - Anyone ever have this kind of baggage problem?

I flew from MCO to JFK in the middle of February (Yes, I got tangled in the obnoxious weather delays) and when I got my bags opened, my clothes were doused - not lightly, SOAKED with isopropyl alcohol and my empty backpack was missing.
This has been bugging me for a while and I never really thought much about it till I realized other people on flyertalk might have a similar story.
BTW - Jetblue's baggage department worked with me on that and gave me a $30 voucher for having to report a complaint and $150 for the inconveniences. I thought that was pretty rad because they also gave me $99 vouchers for each way because of the weather, saving me $380 on a $200 trip.

That's weird, but at least there were no severed heads in your bag. Assume the alcohol didn't ruin any of the clothes?

I am glad we were able to satisfy you in some type of compensation. When I pick up ramp shifts I noticed that sometimes improperly packed items in OTHER customer's bags would unfortunately damage/soil other bags. An example would be a glass of cologne, bottle of wine that breaks in the bag and drains onto the others. The ground crew does their best to isolate the bag and place it into a plastic bag. If there's time we will notify the customer prior to a/c departure..
Hope this might help in answering your query.

I'm glad you raised this, because when I noticed my backpack was missing I looked at the outside of the bag and what the baggage people though was very strange was the alcohol was limited to the clothes in the CENTER of the bag. Everything else around it, top, bottom, left, right were fine. The outside was fine too.

Thankfully, I'm not one of those people who gets queasy at the smell of alcohol.
