Hilton HHonors - TV Audio in the bathroom?

Staying at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure, a basic Hilton property in my opinion, a strage layout as well.
So I noticed a volume control on the inside bathroom wall, I turned it up and I could hear the TV from a speaker above in the ceiling! A nice little touch, never seen something like this before. Gotta hook that up in my house!
Now if they could only fit a waterproof flat screen in the shower!

There are several hilton family properties that offer this service. Its usually on the executive floor. The Hilton Atlanta is a property that comes to mind.

I remember there was also sound from the TV in the bathroom in my room at the Hilton Tower Bridge, in London.

The brand-new Hilton Warsaw also flat screens in the bathroom (19th floor). Not sure if this is already part of the executive floors.

It's freaky if you don't know it's there, and you are in there and the TV comes on.
At least the first time :)

I had this in my bathroom in my apartment during collage but I found that I took way too long of showers and being a poor collage students my water bill got too high.
Cool when it's someone else's dime your showering on though.

Cheap Elite,
Is this feature in every room at the Atlanta Hilton (or even every room on 26, 27, and 28)? I stay there a lot and have never noticed it (though I never really thought to look).

I've only been in two rooms on 27/28 and its always to the two same rooms and they both have music.

In mine, there was a glassed-in TV at the foot of the tub. ;)
But one of the first things I do if I walk into a room and hear the *!@**! bathroom overhead speaker is on, is I turn it off. Definitely one of those "chacon a son gout" issues.
I also had this in my room at the Conrad Tokyo

TV audio in my rooms at the Vienna Hilton. I was not on the executive floor.
I'd say that 75% of the hotels I have stayed in for years have had this feature. And I would say that 1 in 7 does in fact have LCD TV's in the bathroom or even in the shower.... Then agan when recently I was travelling with a colleague who thought that the telephone by the toilet was really weird as he hadn't seen one before....

TV audio in the bathroom is a very common feature in 5-star hotels throughout Asia (Conrad Tokyo, Conrad Hong Kong, Shanghai Shangri-La, etc.). I do not recall seeing this anywhere in the U.S., although many high-end hotels are placing small TVs in the bathroom (Beverly Hilton being one).

Although not a Hilton, the West Des Moines Marriott has this. Has been in every room I have had there.
Initially found it somewhat odd, but after thinking about it, it does make sense in that it will allow you still be able to hear the TV (for weather, sports, etc) while getting ready in the morning without having to turn the TV itself up high which might irritate the neighbors.

The first time I experienced this was at the Waldorf in NYC. Surprised the heck out of me, as the previous guest had left the volume up. I liked being able to listen to the news while soaking in the tub.
Our room in the Ali'i Tower at the HHV in Honolulu had a small TV on the counter outside the bathroom but we didn't use it much. Kind of an odd place for a TV.

It is. There's been quite a few Hiltons I've stayed in with speakers (and sometimes extra TV also) in the bathroom.

I also like pillows and towels. This has been in hotels for the last 30 or 40 years.

Especially if the TV has the Carpenters singing "It's only just begun..."
