I'm flying oneway in coach from Athens to Milan on Alitalia next year. Does anyone know if either Delta or Continental offer an award for a one-way upgrade on Alitalia and, if so, how many miles are required?

DL no longer lists Skyteam upgrade awards on its website.

CO is no longer an AZ partner.

According to the AZ seatmap, about half of the cabin has 2-3 seating on A32x, or 2-2 on some MD-80's. The rear half is a standard 3-3 or 2-3 layout.

On such a short flight, the main advantage of C would be the priority check-in at ATH, where Y lines in the summer can be long.

Flew from Venice to CDG on Alitalia in June. As I recall it was a MD-80. The entire plane had pseudo-business class seating (think midwest express but with cloth seats) and coach service. I guess I was just lucky, but hey, maybe you will be too!!

I have been on a number of Alitalia interEurope flights between Italy and the National Hub Partner. The seating in special executive class is about the same as in steerage. The seats are approximatly the same leather, do not recline. Most planes are filled from a bus and at the front and back at the same time, so you don't even get there quicker.

The flights are frequently not listed with the partner flight number. So you may have flight XXXX on airline ZZ, but the flight is only posted as Alitalia ####.
