Nothing really spectacular happened on this trip except the people who were supposed to pick me up didn't and I had to take a cab to downtown D-C with the most sour driver I ever Met (I thought the NYC cabbies were sour!)
The flights EWR-IAD-EWR luckily took off and landed on time (Even for EWR: I was shocked!)
BUT: Have I said how I hate those people movers at IAD!!! One was broken coming up and the other took forever to get there!!! The problem on the return was that the security guard screamed "If you people don't back from the door I'll keep you here until you move far back!!" After two minutes people backed up and then charged on the people mover!
Also: maybe I'm in the minority on this but why do the taxis at EWR charge a dollar per bag, even for a briefcase and a small overnight??? I told the girl handing out the yellow fare sheets that my briefcase and small carryon are NOT luggage and I should nto be charged extra. She refused to budge so I said the tip's going to come out of the luggage fee. She made me wait five minutes for a cab... then I gave up and took the Airlink to Penn Station, Path to Journal square, changing to the uptown train to 33rd, then subway to Courtyard by Marriott at Times Square.
That whole trip took about 45 minutes. Probably faster than the cab. And I had time for a quick dinner before BUFFETT.
I think I am cheap, but it seems like a dumb penality. One time they wanted to charge for my Harrod's bag full of beer steins. SO I didn't give the cabbie (who was nasty anyway)
a tip. He screamed at me in Spanish. I won't repeat what he said here. CATMAN
