Hi everyone,

I couldn't resist and booked myself a flight out of LGA in October. Now reading and hearing a lot about the zoo at JFK, I was wondering if you could share some advice on the flights out of LGA. Is there anything one should know ? Dos/ don'ts ? Express lanes ? ...

I'll appreciate any advice.

Cheers

its a zoo too... but on a much much smaller scale, with other airlines involved in the mix.

dont show up after the departure time:rolleyes:

I guess this is your 1st flight ever, really why should it be any different at LGA then at the other 500 Airports in the US?

Well specifically for Jet Blue at LGA.

Happened to me on a LGA-FLL flight

the original 9pm flight was delayed until... well, until I woke up at home 1am

I snoozed off after a long day at work and completely forgot about delayed flight

Needless to say I missed the whole trip that week, but Jet Blue was nice enough not to charge me the full fare and deposited the whole amount I paid for the flight back into my credit account, I guess that was only done because the flight was so late due to weather. There were no other open seats on flights for the next two days...

I've flown out of/in to LGA numerous times, but only on AA, DL, UA, CO. Have been scheduled on B6 there twice, but changed last minute to JFK - I think it was weather.

It's funny...I live 15 minutes from JFK, 45 from LGA. Obviously and naturally, JFK is my first choice, but LGA might be the better bet now. I'll take a one-hour delay on the taxiway over a three-hour delay any day of the week!

I'm 15 minutes from Newark but most flights I take lately are from JFK.

I love the early am flights though because distance wise I'm only about 25 miles from JFK which took me exactly half an hour at 4am... on a return trip home at 11pm on a Saturday night it was nearly two hours though in bumper to bumper traffic starting on Van Wyck.

I've never flown B6 out of LGA, but know its in the same wing as Air Canada (which I have flown out of LGA) and Continental. I don't get the impression its a very busy wing, given that most Continental traffic is out of EWR, and the flights to Canada (Toronto and Montreal) are probably no worse than hourly.

Once inside the terminal, its not honestly that bad. Its in the main building though, and its just not a very modern/comfortable terminal, and I didn't find the food options to be particularly good.

Last time I flew B6 out of there, the space is very cramped and you're literally waiting right by the Air Canada desk at the gate with limited seats. It certainly is much less airy than Newark or JFK.

Definitely cramped there - not much food other than an au bon pain mini stand (but definitely more options outside of security). I was just there last week doing an LGA-YYZ run on AC (as they seem to run about 10 embraer's/day to YYZ, and another 10 or so to Montreal/Ottawa/etc..). If you need extra seating, the area behind the AC desk has a bunch of chairs.

The greatest thing about LGA is that I can go from the curb to the gate in less than 15 minutes. It's nothing like JFK which is why I fly out of LGA as much as possible.

I can't believe how often that's true. The longest I've ever waited was when I waited was 24 minutes at security but that was the morning after Christmas ('05). Other than that, its pretty much strait through...kind of like LGB. :D
