Suppose you are going to Malaysia with a group of friends and/or family and want to buy some prepaid mobile phone SIMs, such as those listed here http://www.digi.com.my/prepaid/packages/pre_pack_prepaid.do .

Can these be bought at a reasonable price before entering the country? The $70 commonly offered for such things on the web is not so reasonable if you are buying several of them for several people to use to keep in touch with each other. (Compare to RM8.50 when buying them in the country.)

It would not be a big deal to buy them after entering the country, but having everyone pre-program each others' local phone numbers before the trip would be convenient. (Obviously, assuming everyone has an unlocked GSM phone with the appropriate bands.)

To my knowledge, NO. If you are all travelling together, you can buy the SIM card together and programme each other's telephone numbers at the time of purchase.
