I was recently in the Barcelona area. An article in the local paper stated that both Madrid and Barcelona airports were experiencing some of the highest annual growth rates of airports in Europe.

Barcelona has approximately 950 commerical operations a day. Only four of those go to the US. Delta to ATL and JFK, CO in conjunction with Air Europa to EWR and US to PHL. With Spanair as an alliance partner, US has the best potential for feed on both side. Seems strange that during the off-season, US allows all TA traffic to either flow to Skyteam or through Madrid.

Spain is a very hot market these days. It seem that this airport has strong potential for year-round service even if only three/four days a week.

I'd agree. A lot of the Med cruises leave out of Barcelona these days, so I'm surprised there isn't more service there directly.

I would love to see year round service to BCN. Travelling there in the off-season without all of the crowds, is my favorite way to see the city anyways.

US just probably doesn't have the equipment to do it, as the winter is when the widebodies undergo heavy maintenance.

Would the US 757 ETOPS have the range to fly PHL-BCN?? Maybe they could use this aircraft during the winter 4 days a week, just like they are gonna do with DUB. I know CO flies the 757 EWR-BCN, and PHL is not so far from PHL.

I am from BCN though I donīt live there right now and last time I went I was just shocked to see the big amount of Americans in the city. I am sure US could make profit with a few flights a week during the winter.

Any ideas on this?

True, but you also see the 767 commonly on routes like PHL-CLT and to/from MCO in the winter, and they only need one to operate a daily flight to BCN. It would seem possible if they were so motivated.
