We are going to be in Thailand for a week at the end of the month. We are already booked into the Blue Elephant for a morning cooking class. Does anyone know of similar one-day Thai massage classes? We'll be in Hua Hin and Bangkok.

Go to google and type in the words "Wat Pho massage school"

Thanks. I was hoping for something a bit less serious. Just a morning class or something.

And you'd want the class taught in which language?
Maybe just go to Wat Pho (http://www.into-asia.com/bangkok/attractions/watpho.php), get a massage and observe. Besides a massage the temple grounds are fascinating, and the reclining Buddha is not to be missed.

I was hoping a class in English like the Thai cooking classes that are available.

Anyone here actually took the classes? I am thinking about doing it and wonder if it worth the time. Not a professional therapist but find it interesting.

I did (many years ago) - 10 days x 3 hours a day for a certificate. Many of the students are professional masseurs from around the world - but also quite a few Thais and those just doing it for fun (like me). I liked the experience - Wat Pho is one of my favorite places in BKK and you see/meet a whole bunch of characters in during the time you are there.

A friend of mine taught Thai Massage in Chiang Mai for years. Her english is good. Now in her late 40's, she's moved to Hua Hin, with her best friend, her dalmation.
PM me if you'd like her number, the westerners seemed to like her massage classes.
I'd suspect finding a Massage school outside of bangkok would be fairly easy. My advice, don't ask at the hotel ;-)
