Virgin flying club - Flights to NBO - old UC

Hi, I'm travelling to NBO early September and received a call from Virgin to say that the UC product on this flight was going to be their "old" product, due to an equipment change. They offered a full refund, or an additional 10,000 points to compensate. As I have only flown the new UC, I don't know how big a deal this is, and if I should just accept the offer of a few extra points and not care too much?
Any advice appreciated,
thanks

Yup, this is a standard offer due to one of the old non-suite equipped aircraft coming back into the fold, currently only serving the NBO route.
Personally, i dont think its a bad offer. You'll have the J2000 seating, essentially a lie flat seat as opposed to a flat bed. Its not that dissimilar to the Spacebeds on SQ IMHO, except that you are closer to the seat infront. I quite like the J2000 for an aircraft seat as it has a very good recline, something the suites lack in seat mode. You'll still have the full UC service onboard.
I guess it depends on how important the flight, and its cost, is to you in comparison to what you'd be able to get if you cancelled and went with another airline, say BA, who also fly the NBO route, and also whether you are in the VS Flying Club to make use of those miles? It does no harm to check out other travel options, but personally i would not worry about it at all.

Thanks, its really a brief trip to NBO so its not the end of the world and I'm glad to hear the seat is not all that bad. At least the lounge etc will be better. I'll probably just take the standard 10,000 points and stick with them. many thanks, United78

Ask a lot of VS passengers the same question - I can almost guarantee the answer:
The suite beats ANY other product, hands down, in BED mode.
However, as a seat, it sucks. J2000 (the "old") seat wins every time.
So, for a day flight, J2000 is better (IM<and others>HO). For sleeping, the suite. 10k miles is a fair shout though.
