My wife and I are retired, (info to tell you that we are 60s and not beach people) and will be picking up a cruise ship, July 08, afer a week's stay in Sydney. I am looking at hotels in Bondi Beach and another in Manley. Can anyone tell me about staying in these locations to do day trips via public transportation? I am open to suggestions about better locations and alternative hotels.
Thanks in advance,
Melol

If you're not beach people, why would you stay in either Manley or Bondi? Neither is convenient to the rail system that serves much of Sydney as well as day trip destinations. You might consider a location closer to Circular Quay, where there are a zillion hotels in all price ranges.

And welcome to FT!

Links to SYD transport and hotels on this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=711358). Agree with above you would be better to stay in harbour side or city hotel compared to Bondi or Manley suburbs.

Welcome to Ft melol.

I also agree that you should stay in Circular Quay or the Rocks. Those are the two areas closest to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. They're also close to a train station and the ferries.

Do you have a price range or certain amenities that you're looking for?
