Where can I find a good seafood restaurant at reasonable price in Anchorage? Preferably, I would like to check the local favorites to try the catch of the day or local specialties.

Thanks.

Simon & Seaforts is excellent IMHO. The crab stuffed halibut is awesome. Anywhere that serves oysters from Katchemak Bay works also. If you are on a budget, try Sea Galley. They serve local seafood, but the view of the inlet at Simons is worth the extra price.

I really loved the restaurant called Jen's. The Sous Chef does a great job combining flavors with the entrees.

Thanks for the info. Also, I've been browsing the archived postings and lots of info about places to dine were posted and discussed. Now, all I have to do is to get there by October. BTW, what kind of weather do you have by then?

There's an old saying in Alaska,if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes.
That said pack warm clothes, just in case.(a lot of visitors from FLL find our warm summer days chilly :)
I have to agree with Simon & Seaforts, while I wouldn't call it reasonable, quality of food, ambience, service and the view make up for that.

Early October-mid 40's during the day, below freezing at night.

Mid-October & on, there could be 1"-12" or more of snow on the ground. Snow for sure by the end of the month. Very pretty view of the mountains with "Termination Dust" early in the month.

Sorry:eek:

Didn't mean to bring up a bad subject. I'm at SEA DOO having a great time. What was I thinking? I should have never let reality rear its' ugly head;)

That's OK--I know it's coming. I was driving home at 3am night before last, and it was (mostly) dark and there was a chill in the air. First time I've seen or felt that since summer started...

I almost made a smart butt comment about how the Socal migration ruined my favorite city(SEA)but I bit my tongue...

Yes, you should bite your tongue. Just why were you not at SEADOO?!!! That's grounds for a whipping with a wet noodle or an empty wine bottle. We wouldn't waste a full one after all;);):p
