Hilton HHonors - Need advice - Diamond Guarantee for 3?
Hello Everyone, need some advice
There are 3 of us traveling together in a couple of weeks. Our destination seems to be sold out for the one night we need hotel rooms. Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, Holiday Inn, SPG, you name it - it's all gone. There are a few no-name hotels, but in inconvenient locations (outskirts), but we would like to stick close together since we'll probably share a rental car and have a dinner togehter.
here is the dilemma - there are 3 of us:
1 x diamond
1 x gold (me:))
1 x silver
We tried to use the diamond guarantee at one HH property, but it seems like that's only for one room and the front desk canceled the other ones.
What would be your advice? Is it allowed by Diamond Privileges to book 3 single reservations at 3 different Hilton properties on the same day? It would be 2 Hamptons and 1 Hilton? They are all pretty close together.
If we do make 3 reservations, we have the challenge of the diamond member going into each hotel and changing the name on the reservation, which I am sure front desk will frown upon....
Anyway, your advice and experience would be very helpful.
P.S. Did a search (non-google) and did not see anything good.

You can reserve them, though it may be expensive. Check to see if it's a a deal where you need to get two nights, it may be less expensive to reserve for two nights and just leave after one (don't tell them). I know several I visit from time to time are no single weekend nights.
But the force could be at rack rate.

The Diamond gaurantee is really for one room for the Diamond member to occupy. I suppose sharing a room for one night is not an option?
Thanks for the posts. Money is not an issue - it is on expense account...
As to sharing rooms, two of the guys are older and very territorial - I would not want to share a room with either.... ;), so out of question really.

The Diamond Force / guarantee is for one room. Even rooms not booked with Diamond Force often have the following language:
"A maximum of one room per night at a specific hotel may be booked as part of the Diamond Guaranteed Reservations benefit. Additional rooms booked via this benefit at the same hotel for the same date(s) may be cancelled by the hotel and accommodations denied without any liability for cancelled rooms."
How that will work for three separate rooms I don't know, but it sounds chancy to me.

Three separate rooms at the same hotel, maybe... but three different hotels, I don't see the problem.

You could call the hotels and ask. Do you absolutely have to be there that day? Can you change plans slightly?

I absolutely agree with calling the hotel. The Diamond Desk can be your friend in a lot of instances but if money is not an issue, calling the property yourself will work wonders. If you are willing to pay rack rate, sometimes rooms magically appear.
Diamond guarantee has this language also:
"Guarantee applies to only one room occupied by the Diamond VIP member and to reservations made with a valid credit card. "
Calling the hotel and asking to pay the rack rate may work.

I have called the DD and gotten the guarantee at least 6 times and did not get it at least 3-4 times (I dont remember my 24-48 hr timing). Twice I tried for 2 rooms and was not able to get them. I quickly called the hotel and got the room at the rack rate.

Thanks for the reply guys - the client set the meeting dates and we can't change them easily without delaying a few more weeks.
After running through our options and staying at 3 different properties, 2 of which are hamptons, we have found a luxury vacation rental home that is available that one night and we are going to grab it. It's a 3 bedroom house, a bit ways but in a nice neighborhood and great location.... our second best option was La Quinta with 2 rooms and Hilton with 1. By the way, the total cost for the house for that night is comparable with what we would pay for 2 guestrooms at a Hilton or 2 rooms at a La Quinta since everything is sold out.
Staying at the house will be adventurous, but I hope will make for a more interesting trip, in a good sense...

I have forced two before wihtout any issues. I have had three or four reservations at one time and the system did not care.

Does the guarantee apply for HHonors reservations? Does there have to be a 48-hour advance notice for the hotel to be able to confirm it?

for hhonors reservations a special request has to be filed by the so called diamond desk, which doesn't actually specifically exist anymore.
that has to be done at least 72hrs before the day of your arrival starts.
