Asia - BEST Spa Hotel and/or Golf Hotel in/near Bejing - Suggestions?

Heading to Beijing in February and the wife wants - a 1st Class Spa Hotel - I'm thinking Golf Hotel/Resort (in or near the city). Or - a few days in each - or if one place is great and has both . . .

I would really like to hear people's experiences and or recommendations please.

Sadly, I don't know of any golf courses around here that are appreciably better than the public course I used to play after work in Mountain View, CA. Furthermore, Feb isn't exactly the best month for golf, so I think you can safely cross that whole idea off of your list.

As for spa resorts, there are a number in the Changping district to the north. Jiuhuashan and Hot Spring City are two of the more famous ones. I've only been to the former, but have heard the latter is similar. It is a big place... almost like a theme park. There are both indoor and outdoor hot springs, tons of activities, and a monorail. While it doesn't hold a candle to the spas I've been to in Japan, Korea, and Thailand, it is still kind of interesting.... and cheap.

In any case, if I were in your shoes, I'd plan on booking one night and going from there. (I couldn't last much more than 2 days up there because I don't like the food.)

Unfortunately there are any comparables to Blue Canyon GC in the Bj area so I'd leave your sticks at home. And as Moondog noted, it's howling cold usually in Feb.

You are so right - spoiled by the weather here into thinking everywhere is great in February!
