I saw an OP from someone asking about working for jetBlue a long long time ago, but seems like no one responded, so here I go...
I'm very interested in a marketing position they currently have opened at their Corporate offices in NY. I submitted my resume through their careers web page a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard from them... seems like it'll be very difficult if it's done through their website as I believe they get millions of resumes per day - totally understandable.
Can anyone currently working for jetBlue give me any hints on how to reach their HR crewmembers? Or anyone that may have past experiences or insights that you can share? Any advice will be very much appreciated. FYI, I strongly believe I'm qualified with my marketing and airline industry related background. ;)
Thanks!

PS: I even thought going through a headhunter, but can't find one that works with Jetblue

Will do... I just thought they would interview candidates asap to fill in the hole. At least that's the way it works on the Corporate world. :p

As much as I think it would be an absolute blast to work for jetBlue, and I have thought about it, I worry about trading in the stability that many of us enjoy outside the airline industry. I work in an industry that isn't as closely tied to oil prices, market fluctuations, terrorism, recessions, some cool new upstart, and technology. This isn't to say that changes in my industry couldn't leave half of us out of work at some point in the future but it just feels alot more stable than an industry with such razor thin profit margins and such brutal competition.
I am sure it would be fun, but I don't think the pay and benefits (excluding free domestic travel) will be as lucrative as other industries. I have nothing concrete to base this on, just a hunch.
And, if your business is Global in nature, keep in mind jetBlue is largely a U.S. (or North American) operation. Sure, jetBlue could be flying to Europe in three years and sure I could be on hold with the unemployment office, its all very possible.

I remember I posted for a position here in Orlando a long time ago. It took them over two months to call me and when they did I had already gotten a job and forgot what I had even applied for lol!!!

I don't work at jetBlue...just a big fan of the company!
I did, however, once apply for an internship about 2 years ago. It took about 4 months for a response. It's abnormally long, but just wait...you'll hear from them eventually. Make sure you received an email confirmation that your application/resume went throguh. If you don't hear anything within 5-6 months (no joke), then call and see what's going on.
Good luck!!

Very interesting thoughts... I totally agree with the "stability" of the airline industry and all the ups and downs they face over time. I must say I'm kind of used to these cycles having an ad agency background - never laid off though. Agencies win a bunch of accounts one year, and then the next one they loose a bunch.... but it's way more stable in comparison to the airline industry.
Someone mentioned the benefits and the free domestic travel. That's one of the big pros for me. But don't airline employees get to travel internationally for free too? Aren't there inter-airline agreements? I read somewhere before that you could do that, specifically if you are airline X employee and want to fly on Jetblue. Wouldn't it be the same for Jetblue employees flying other airlines?
On the positive side, and coming from a marketing perspective, it could be a challenging and exciting job due to the nature of the industry. I bet the marketing folks over at Jetblue have a lot of interesting programs and tasks to work on - pressure too. The fact that there is so much competition and that all the airlines are trying to outstand with their loyalty programs, fare sales, etc is amazing.
That brings me to the next point, which still surprises me a little. Why would they wait 2, 3 or 4 months to hire someone if they need to fill in a position? Wouldn't they be understaffed, with lots of projects going on? Just a thought...
I'll keep you posted and thanks a lot for your advices. ^

I've applied to JetBlue jobs online a few times. I was called to interview twice, both times within a few days of applying. Unfortunately I didn't get either job. The interview process is pretty intensive and they are very selective. One of the jobs I had applied for (a Marketing position) remained posted several weeks after I interviewed, so I'm sure they keep reviewing resumes until they find the right person for the position.

Like subwaybill said above, jetBlue looks for the absolute best.
The benefits (mainly free travel) are great, but you have to put those blue gloves on and help clean the plane! Not that big of a deal though...
I would recommend looking for other marketing positions available there at the same time. Apply to as many as you can and be patient. Keep us posted on the process and best of luck!!

I don't think there is anything such as free. I think that if you fly on another airline you're always going to pay at least 10% of the full published fare for that cabin. I could be wrong and others can correct me however I was recently speaking with some people with infants (6 - 9 months old), they were redeeming award tickets, they had to pay 10% of the published fare for the infant, a couple agents said that its similar to what airline employees pay to fly another carrier and what people on buddy passes pay. Between having to pay the portion of the fair AND travel Space Available you have to ask yourself whether that perk alone carries enough weight, particularly if the opportunity cost is a job with some travel which earns frequent flyer miles.
As jetBlue grows, how long do you think it will be before the New York headquarters moves to Orlando or some other lower cost locale? jetBlue has to compete with US Airways on price and that is no small feat. There is a story in today's Arizona Republic, US Airways has replaced motorized baggage tugs in Phoenix with "rickshaws," the employees get exercise and US Airways (most importantly) saves money. US Airways has contracts with the very lowest cost regional carriers to fly the most dreadful old turboprops in some markets. For the consumer who is looking at price first and everything else second, US Airways takes the customer. This is what jetBlue is up against. New York is an expensive town, I wouldn't be surprised if the airline moves to Orlando. TWA moved from New York to St. Louis, American moved from New York to Dallas. I don't want to live in Orlando.

Most airlines have jumpseat agreements with eachother, but that might only be for inflight crew and pilots.
A JetBlue flight attendant once told me that she flew JFK-London on MaxJet (all biz class) for about 25 bucks in taxes!

Whatever it is, still better to pay an obscenely high tax on a $0 or VERY low base fare than on a regular full fare.

I have interned at B6 before, I can say safely that their People department is one of the best I have encountered in the Airline Industry...they atleast contact all the qualified applicants and let them know they didn't qualify for the position via phone or they will extend you an interview.

It usually takes the people department some time to sift through all the applications. I know they get a lot every year for every position they have posted. I would expect a couple of months minimum for them to get back to you. I believe I waited almost 4 months before I revieced a phone call.
I thought I saw somebody ask about travel agreements in an earlier post, maybe not i'm on pain meds for a serious back injury so please forgive me. We have tons of pass agreements with other airlines. You can get anywhere in the world with the agreements we have in place. Jumpseat agreements are only for flight and inflight crewmembers only so you won't have access to those but list list of non-rev pass agreements is very impressive. Rumor has it we are even trying to work out ZED Fares with other airlines but so far nothing has come of it.

Thanx, I went to the doctors, finally gave in as I hate doctors, and found out I dislocated a rib in my back. Where the rib joins the spine. Apparently one of the ribs is out of place, thus the cause of my extreme muscle pains. Docs want to wait and see if it pops back. The good news is I have nice happy pills ^ :D

Not this time, that was a few months ago. Honestly enough I don't really know. Funny thing is I think I did it while playing golf. It upset me because I was 3 under par for the first 15 holes then was 5 over for the last 3. BAH! lol. I have to go back Monday if the muscles don't pull it back and hopfully the doc can do the back cracking thing to realign it.

The post I was responding to mentions flying on MaxJet. In that case the passenger would have to pay the luxury tax for departing London in a premium cabin. It doesn't matter if there is only a premium cabin - the 80 GBP tax still applies. Here's a breakdown of the fares:
NYC - LON
Fare (A1): MY NYCLON ZOW1US fare (rules) $699.00
Tax: US September 11th Security Fee $2.50
Tax: US International Departure Tax $15.10
Tax: US Passenger Facility Charge $4.50
LON - NYC
Fare (A1): MY LONNYC IOWUK fare (rules) £424.00
Tax: US International Arrival Tax $15.10
Tax: United Kingdom Passenger Service Charge £8.58
Tax: United Kingdom Air Passengers Duty £80.00
Tax: US Customs Fee $5.50
Tax: US Immigration Fee $7.00
Tax: USDA APHIS Fee $5.00
For the same day, flying in Y the tax is "only" GBP 40:
Fare (A1): CO LONEWR H23W fare (rules) £397.50
Tax: US International Arrival Tax $15.10
Tax: United Kingdom Passenger Service Charge £8.00
Tax: United Kingdom Air Passengers Duty £40.00
Tax: US Customs Fee $5.50
Tax: US Immigration Fee $7.00
Tax: USDA APHIS Fee $5.00
All the other taxes are pretty comparable. So the taxes to get to London really are only ~$25, but coming home on MaxJet would cost ~$225

Actually on a jumpseat agreement we don't have to pay taxes going to the UK, only returning. It is a bit different between a jumpseat agreement and a non-revenue agreement.
One of our non-revenue agreements is with British Airways. We get 1 free standby pass a year, that catch is we still have to pay taxes, international taxes. So last year I flew BOS-LHR-BOS on British Airways. The ticket was free but I still had to pay $225 in taxes. Not a bad deal concidering the cabin crew upgraded us to business class in both directions.
MaxJet, EOS, and Omni are the only carriers that allow us to jumpseat to European destinations.

and jumpseats are only for FA and pilots, right? Do you have more non-rev agreements with other European airlines other than BA?
BTW, never heard Omni before...

Unfortunatly jumpseat agreements are only for Pilots, Flight Attendants, and Dispatchers. We have tons on non-revenue agreements in place that allow us to travel the world.
Omni is a charter company and not in regurlarly scheduled service. Like most charter companies they like to sign so their Crews and get from home to work on other carriers since they aren't in scheduled service.
