Asiana Club - Asiana news: increase LHR, etc.

Asiana has 4/w rights to LHR, and provided if no british airliners come to Korea, OZ can increase one more weekly on summer season only (late march-late october). Soon Asiana will use that additional right. 8/20~10/27, there is monday LHR flight using 772ER. After 10/27, it comes back to Tue,Thu,Sat,Sun only.

Also, OZ will decrease BKK from 11/w to 10/w.

And 747combi will run on HKG 10 out of 14/w with F class even on the night flights from late September.

Stay tune, there will be huge increases of Japanese flights. Asiana as well as Korean air are studying how to wisely use open sky agreement which was recently activated between Korea and Japan except NRT/HND.

The extra LHR flight is very good news -- especially as this is the route I fly most! ;)

Any news on the Paris flight?

Asiana can fly to Paris only after March 2008. They has right for 3/w, and 1/w more after March 2009. So Asiana will launch this route next March.

Currently, KE and OZ are "evenly" assigned the rights to fly to various Japanese cities. For example, KE has the right to fly to Sapporo which OZ can't fly there at the moment but will definitely add a flight before the winter sking season. The local media expect KE & OZ will discontinue flights to smaller/unprofitable Japanese cities and add more flights to Osaka and Nagoya.

Ah! So that's why gendai.co.uk has been having a "Magic Monday" promotion for OZ for LHR-Japan flights (great price, about 500GBP all in).

It's a real shame they couldn't have added the extra flight on a Friday. I would have been all over it. Oz is my favourite airline for Economy flights and the company I got to first. I've had very little luck in selecting them during the past couple of years though. To fly to Japan on the days I wanted it cost the same to fly indirect with OZ (and only get 70% of the miles) than to get a direct flight with ANA (100%). I chose AZ instead and am consoling myself with a Rome layover.
