Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Sydney New Year dining

We'll be in Sydney over New Year. Despite booking back in March and numerous phone calls since, we've still not managed to secure a harbour view room. Therefore we're thinking about going for a meal somewhere with a harbour view to see the fireworks. I know we'll pay a fortune, but it beats trying to get the right spot and waiting 12 hours...

Any recommendations, suggestions? Assuming we need to book soon, if we're not too late already...

All these places have great food and amazing views however it will be very expensive but I would say well worth it plus our dollar is worth nothing next to your pound! I would be booking now~!

I'll second the Wildfire and Waterfront restaurant recommendations.

Had a lovely function at the Waterfront and it is really nice inside and then you just glance outside and see the gorgeous view.

I don't know exactly what the Opera Bar (http://www.operabar.com.au) is like on NYE and how exactly admission etc is done (possibly email them?). However, IMO, it is a great place to take people from out of town because of the location. Never been on NYE so do not how crowded etc but the food and atmosphere is great the other times of the year I have been.
