My husband and I just returned from Bali flying J* Star Class. It's fine for the price (or points in our case) BUT you don't get priority luggage; naturally our (and it seems other Star Class) bags came off last.

I was expecting something exciting here.
Jetstar certainly doesn't keep it a secret, they don't mention it as a feature of flying Star Class so you shouldn't be surprised you didn't get it.

*C is not Business Class. It is only equal to BA WT+ and that does not get priority luggage treatment either.
Any TA that suggests that *C is Business Class is lying.
It just happens to be a nice way to get QF Biz SCs and points.

I guess its just like the suite seats on SJ except you earn full J points on you QF F/F which is a bonus :)
