There are lots of hip appearing places in SAV,but its mostly a fried food fiesta. Does that make sense? lala Rejuvenated Jul 26, 07, 4:29 pm Perhaps this may assist the OP: http://www.savcvb.com/ old_vine_zin Jul 27, 07, 7:56 am Savannah is one of my favorite destinations. Don't know exactly what you are looking for but River Street is always happening. Bay Street has some great B&B's (some which claim to be haunted). It's about a 25 minute drive to Tybee island where you can go up in a working lighthouse. Its about a 45 minute drive to Hilton Head Island. My favorite thing to do is eat outside at one of the rooftop restraunts on River Street and watch the huge freighters go up and down the river. Also, there is a place called Barney's that has awesome boiled crawfish. JerseyVics Jul 27, 07, 12:02 pm Savannah is one of my favorite destinations. It's about a 25 minute drive to Tybee island where you can go up in a working lighthouse. I could definitely vouch for Tybee Island too! The road taking you there is beautiful with a one lane each way road with small palm trees and signs for aligators crossing every once in a while... very neat. Be sure to stop by Uncle Bubba's Seafood place about half way there, good stuff and a relatively nice set up with fish ponds outside and an open area in the back overlooking some waterway between the islands. --Russ elll Jul 27, 07, 12:07 pm On road to Tybee, just before the bridge, is Williams Seafood. It is a very old fashioned restaurant but the seafood is VERY fresh (shrimp boats docked next to restaurant). Excellent food, excellent service, very casual familty-type atmosphere. zigzag Jul 27, 07, 1:07 pm Wil be in Savannah in October, and am looking for a hip/fun/romantic place to take my happening wife! No other place then Elizabeth on 37th for your wife! rwsatl Jul 27, 07, 1:29 pm On road to Tybee, just before the bridge, is Williams Seafood. I second this one about Williams...great food! You also may want to try Spankys on River Street (I think). Its a bar and rest. combo with good local catches as well. hackensacknj Aug 10, 07, 1:36 pm I second Elizabeth's on 37th. One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. Favorite place of mine to stay is the Marriott Riverfront Savannah. Get a room on one of the higher floors with a balcony and enjoy the freighter traffic 24 hours a day. One could almost reach out and touch the ships. notmypetunia Aug 12, 07, 11:29 am The Pink House is a nice place to enjoy dinner and the little bar downstairs is quite nice. For very casual there's a place called the Crab Shack which is on your way to Tybee if I remember correctly. Their tag line is something like, "where the elite eat in their bare feet". Messy good food. I love Savannah. Enjoy! |
