CALGARY, ALBERTA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jul 24, 2007 -- WestJet (Toronto:WJA.TO - News) today announced that Clive Beddoe will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer on September 4, 2007. Sean Durfy will become President and Chief Executive Officer effective that same day.

CALGARY, Alberta, July 24 (Reuters) - Clive Beddoe, the blunt-spoken entrepreneur who founded WestJet Airlines Ltd. (WJA.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) 11 years ago and built it into Canada's No. 2 carrier, is handing the chief executive post to President Sean Durfy and will step back as executive chairman, WestJet said on Tuesday.
