Two questions about earning miles in the Asiana Club program. Do I get miles based on the flight number or the operating carrier. For example, if a book a flight in W with a UA flight number operated by Lufthansa, will I get 100% (based on UA) or 50% (based on Lufthansa)?

Also will I get miles for flying TED just as if it would be a regular United flight?

First question answer :
It depends on both flight numbers and operating carrier. Your example refers to UA and LH which are both *A carriers and UA issued the ticket, you will get 100% miles.

If you have a ticket with NH flight numbers but it's operated by MU, you can't credit your miles since MU is not a *A carrier.

I think you can credit miles if you fly TED since it is UA but just a different brand.

It all depends on the operating carrier and the booking class you booked with UA "translates" into the relevant operating carriers (in this case LH) booking class. I believe UA W translates into LH W or V which will earn 100% miles as well. According to flyasiana.com (http://eu.flyasiana.com/Global/EU/en/homepage?fid=CLUB14300) UA and LH flights in Y do either earn 100% or 0% (not 50%).

IIRC Asiana changed the mileage earning on Lufthansa in W and S in December last year. If you go to the Korean site it shows 50% mileage for Lufthansa W and S.

I just checked the Korean site and it shows 100% for LH W and S, same as all other regional websites. To be on the safe site, you may want to give Asiana a call. Just remember, the LH booking class is the one relevant for you, not the UA booking class.

Thatīs bizarre, I checked again and got this matrix for Lufthansa

F, A 150%
C, D, Z 125%
Y, B, M, H, Q, V, G, K 100%
W, S 50%
E, N, R, L, T, O, I, X, U 0%

They also announced the enhancement in the December 2006 newsletter which is still readable on the Asiana website.
