As a question, normally, when I ring CX for seat allocation its no problem. I have been able to get the emergency exit seat on nearly every flight (in Y) I have taken over the past few years, without fail.

I rang the MPC as usual to ask for seat allocation, Ex- CNS to HKG in a weeks time. Nothing decent is available, no bulkhead aisles, no exits on the whole plane. When I looked at seat counter, whilst the lower Y fare classes are sold, most of the other Y fare classes look wide open, hence there should be seats.

I'm not whinging or complaining, just curious as this is unusual for CX for me. Any suggestions?

Try calling and speaking to another MPC agent , or better still, call CX res instead?

Perhaps, simply because all the good seats are taken. Do you have access to any seatmap that shows "blocked seat" vs "occupied seat"?

Possibly, but this is the strange bit. Normally CX block these seats off for FF pax. My only explanation is on a flight that is not full, there are a sixeable number of CX FF. Unusual though.

Thanks Kchika, that shed some light on the issue. But to me it still doesn't make total sense, Im still a FF, the flight is over a week away and custom and practice has meant Ive never had this issue before. (not complaining, just curious) Thanks.
