This is probably old news to many of you but:
The other day I had to go to ATL last minute and all of the airport rental car locations were either sold out of cars or charging 3x higher than normal. Took the MARTA to downtown and walked two blocks to a local car rental office. Had reserved car here online for about 30% the going rate of the airport location and was able to drop it at the airport.
Overall, worth the 40 minute commute to downtown to save a few hundred bucks. ^
