Some friends and I were planning a trip next weekend. I was going to buy my ticket with AGR points, but realised it might work better to buy a friend's ticket with AGR points and pay for my ticket in cash so that I can earn points for the trip (I have not yet claimed my enrolment bonus since all my points were transferred from Continental). Is giving a reward ticket to someone else (who will potentially be travelling on a different train) likely to cause any problems? I know that many airlines permit this, but some do not, and problems sometimes arise if the airline suspects reward tickets are being resold.

I don't see why not.

True, you can not sell an award ticket, but you can have an award issued in anyone's name and give it to them. I would say as long as the award is issued in their name, it should not be a problem.

The_traveler is correct.

Getting AGR tickets for others - even when not traveling with them - is not a problem.

But you must make sure that you have the ticket issued in their name!
