Hi, I will be on J on the BKK-DXB CX751 flight via BOM. My question is whether we will be allowed off the plane in BOM, it appears to be a 1 1/2 hour stop? Can we use the lounge in BOM? For those of you who have taken this flight in the past, are there many through passengers, or do most exit in BOM? I want the CX miles, which is why I did not take the TG nonstop. Do you think this might be a mistake? Thanks.

There is no "lounge" in BOM. More like a few chairs and I don't think you are allowed off the plane anyway.

I would take TG or EK direct. The flight through BOM is pretty wretched. Older planes. Always full. Regional business class seats.

Thanks for the answer to my question and advice. I think you are right. I will go TG, better service on this route. EK was sold out on the flight that would get me to Dubai at a reasonable hour.

No question, take the direct flight. The CX option is aBOMinable. (Sorry. One too many espressos this morning)

I went from Hong Kong to Mumbai, but I remember them announcing for passengers going onwards to Dubai, they had to remain on board. The Clipper Lounge in Mumbai is definitely no Wing/Pier, but for a 3rd party lounge that caters to many airlines, I actually found the service quite nice. The food was actually quite good; samosas, salads, fresh sandwiches, and lots of drinks, though limited on the alcohol. Only problem is that it is a 3rd party lounge and therefore gets very crowded.

I may be flying cx HAN to BOM to DXB (stopping over in BOM) and I would appreciate more detail as to what I can expect on this route. Can it really be that bad?

My experience with CX has been quite positive.

TIA

Compared to AA anywhere on CX is pretty good, and the inflight is pretty consistently fine (although the BOM & DXB flights are done with regional aircraft not long haul, so if you're in J then no lie-flat seats and no AVOD). Pretty much any lounge looks a bit basic when you have The Wing/Pier as your home base.
