Will be staying at the JW Marriott in the CBD and want to go to these to places so I guess we will be cabbing it.How much should a cab fare run?
Is Willie Mae's open with regular hours now?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Willie Mae's isn't too far, maybe a $10 ride. Bring the address, some cabbies may not have heard of it.
Brigtsen's (correct spelling) is farther, way uptown. That cab ride may get into the $15-20 range.

Brigsten's is more correctly in the west Carrollton district, by the river, and would easily be 20 bucks if traffic up St. Charles is slow.

A word of warning: Willie Mae's is in a REALLY bad area. Take a cab to the door and have them call you a cab when you leave.
But, it is well worth a visit.

No, unfortunately it isn't.

While the Streetcar is not running past downtown, the St Charles bus has talen its place. If taxi cost is prohibitive, you could take the bus out to Brigtsen's. It's not as traditional an experience as the streetcar, but I find NORTA buses to be clean and efficient, and the drivers friendly.

If you do the bus, just tell the driver you want off by The Camellia Grill. A block away is Maple, where you walk 2 blocks toward the river levee and then left on Dante, where you'll see the house the restaurant is in.
If you go a little early, there is a great neighborhood corner bar next door to Camellia, with a big 2nd floor deck overllooking Carrollton.

The "neighborhood bar" is actually a chain restaurant, O'Henry's. The real neighborhood bar is a block away, Cooter Brown's, sans balcony or much atmosphere.
Brigtsen's is specifically in the Riverbend area and make sure your cab driver knows where it is located. I can't tell you how many times I've had cabbies and passengers stop me to ask where the restaurant is located. Sometimes they've only been a block away from it. It is bounded by the streets of Dublin, Maple, & Leake Ave. It's a great restaurant that my wife and I love to go to, only about 5 minutes from our house. Reservations are usually a must.
