Haven't found this posted elsewhere but I took one of the newly-installed business class seats this weekend from London to Hong Kong and while it had all the equipment for inseat power available, there was no power. This was the second of the fleet to be converted I was told. The new inseat power socket appears to take UK, US and European plugs and offers 110V. However it didn't work and talking to the crew it certainly wasn't an issue with them not turning on the power, it simply didn't work. I was told that power would eventually be available (by which the cabin crew meant sometime in the rollout rather than later in the flight) so they seemed to be aware of the issue but unable to fix it imminently. Odd that a newly-renovated aircraft would go into service with things not working. So after 2 hours, when my laptop battery ran out, I had to stop working. Fortunately I was asked to complete "a new seat survey form" so was able to explain my annoyance with this particular aspect of the flight. Otherwise the flight was fine. But those looking to try out the new business class might want to bring an extra laptop battery.
