American Express Membership Rewards - Preferred Rewards Plus Gold Card - Bonus point offers wanted with no first year fee

I have many American Express cards and I am enrolled in Membership Rewards.

I want to obtain more "free points". I do not have a AX Rewards Plus Gold Card. I found an offer with 5,000 point for first use and no first year fee.

J just received an offer in the mail from them - 50,000 bonus points if I spend $500 on the card before September 30th. It may be a targeted offer. Fine print mentions bonus ID 7382. First year free.

Then on the web page where I read your message, Starwood Preferred Guest AMEX card is offering 25,000 Starpoints - 10,000 upon first use and 15,000 additional provided I spend $15,000 in the first 6 months after approval.

Yesterday, a friend of mine received the same offer, "50,000 bonus points if I spend $500 on the card before September 30th." that you got. He said that the card was free for the first year. This is a no-brainer, take the card! Does anyone know if this is a targeted offer?

I think I will wait and see if I get the offer.

This link that you posted in your original post also takes you to a Preferred Rewards Card, not a PLUS card, so the link I posted is a better deal than this one, but neither are what you want, it appears. I posted my link in response to your link--hence the confusion.

my sister got an offer for 25K which i told her was really good after reading about it here. is there a link for this 50K offer or should she call AmEx and try to get 50K by mentioning bonus ID 7382?

I have not been able to find a weblink for the offer. I suggest that you call Amex and give it a try. PM me with the results.

When I log into the Amex website, I am told that I am pre-approved for the Rewards Plus Gold Card with a 15,000 point bonus.

What I can not find is any place on the site which tells me what the annual fee for this is. (I did find the annual fee for the Preferred Rewards Gold Card.)

Two differences:

1. Rewards Plus offers bonus points for transactions with Membership Rewards transfer partner airlines and hotel chains. The bonus is one extra point per dollar for the first twelve months, one-half point per dollar thereafter.

2. Rewards Plus includes five supplementary cards at no additional cost.

I just called them and they told me that they can waive the $150 for the first year, and still give me the 15,000 bonus points, but they need my "RSVP number."

This, apparently, only comes on snail mail, not e-mail (nor on the website when I log in) and I never received it, so I guess I am out of luck. :(

In my experience once American Express has targetted you for a particular card there will be a stream of offers, no urgency to accept the first one.

I spoke to my friend today. Yesterday, his card came in the mail. He called Amex and confirmed the offer.
