I received a telefon call today from LH in Zurich, and after telling me some time-changes of future flights they added: "you know that you were lucky when you did buy your nov-99 round-the-world-ticket in late dec-98. Today we would have to charge you another/higher price".
I replied that this was not luck but good guessing, as all ticket prices tend to rise and that with the new partners (Ansett, Air New Zealand, and later ANA) joining, I was pretty sure that future prices will be higher.
The (friendly) LH-employee didn't want to give me any details of the new prices/conditions/details for future round-the-world-tickets, she said that this (prices/rules) is still secret (but at the same time she said, that if I would buy one now, she would have to apply the new rules/prices). I asked for a written information as prices per class and mileage levels, general rules, booking codes, etc. but she wouldn't give me (yet) any detailled answer, she said the rules fill 6 full pages, and that she would mail me as soon as the have worked out a consumer-friendly "sales-leaflet-version".
ok, here is a challenge for us, let's try to break that mistery-monger here on FlyerTalk. Till know the general rules for these tickets were (UA, TG, SK, RG, LH, AC):
flight mileage limits: 25'000/32'000/38'000.
minimum 10 days, maximum 1 year.
stopovers: minimum 3, maximum 15, maximum 5 in cont US.
7 days advance purchase.
reservation & ticketing for sectors up to and incl. 1st intercontinental sector at least 7 days prior date of departure.
fare codes: First / Business / Eco.
UA A / D / B
TG P / J / M
SK B / C / B
RG F / C / H
LH F / D / B
AC F / C / B
