Canada - crossing the border from buffalo

i'm thinking of flying from london to buffalo, then overnighting at niagara falls, ontario, before continuing to toronto. i plan to leave canada from toronto airport, on a usa-based airline to london.

for a uk citizen, does the usa visa waiver scheme apply, or is a visa necessary? does a bus ticket to niagara falls satisfy the requirement for an onward ticket?

You can actually fly from London to Buffalo, NY?:D

I can't see why the VWP wouldn't apply. You are a citizen of the UK and you have a ticket out of the country. Shouldn't really matter if that onward ticket is in Canada.

By the way..........you HAVE to do the Jetboat ride out of Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON or Lewiston, NY. I'll be there this weekend and I can't wait!

The visa waiver should apply. You should be able to reenter the US with the same waiver after a short trip to Canada and surrender your I-94W when to the airline when leaving the US. I think you can also give the departure form the Canadian immigration when leaving the US.

No, don't surrender your I-94W form until you leave the U.S. for the final time (which, in your case, would be your U.S.-U.K. flight). The I-94W is good for re-entry from Canada and Mexico within a short period (duration of hte I-94W?)
